Shustomer
n. A word derived from a combination of "shareholder" and "customer". Someone who is both a customer and shareholder for a company at the same time. The word is a lot like "prosumer" --someone who is a producer and a consumer in engaging the same entity. The word "prosumer" gained currency with the rise of user generated content on the Internet, in which users both contribute content and also are consumers of content. In a similar scenario, a customer who is happy with a company can buy shares in it, or a shareholder in a company can turn customer in order to encourage or support the company. The person can be called a shustomer.
Origin: (The word is inspired by the Facebook IPO due today (Friday, May 18, 2012). The scramble for shares is considered irrational by pure logic of investment, as the share issue has begun to resemble a scramble for a party invitation or something like a lottery. However, the cultural support and backing Facebook users are giving the share issue with their robust demand makes them "shustomers" Here is an article I wrote on it
